FNB launches data free App
First National Bank (FNB) Namibia recently launched the FNB App in partnership with MTC.
The App allows the bank’s customers to transact without the need of data or credit on their phones.
Sarel van Zyl, FNB Namibia Chief Executive Officer, said he was proud to introduce a solution that would help give Namibians the choice to bank anywhere, anytime through their cell phones.
“Our mission is to make banking inclusive, affordable and convenient for all our customers, and zero data costs speaks to the heart of “help”, which is what we stand for as a bank,” van Zyl said.
The FNB Banking App will allow users to make payments, make use of eWallet, transfer money between FNB accounts, view balances and transaction histories, transfer money from eWallet to transactional accounts, buy prepaid electricity and airtime and make Geo payments.
Desery van Wyk, Head of Digital Channels at FNB, explained that besides being able to use the app anywhere for free, individuals will also be rewarded with cash back into their savings account for using the app.
“We love to spoil ourselves from time to time and FNB can help with that too. Download and start transacting with no data costs on the App and you immediately qualify for FNB Rewards where we will give you cash back for using the app regularly,” said van Wyk.
Van Wyk also announced a fingerprint login requirement to access the app, among other new security features.
“We know that it is not safe out there and things happen, that is why if you lose your card or it gets stolen, with the FNB App you can manage your bank cards and even block or cancel the card immediately. Our Smart inContact notifications let you know of all transactions on your account and this is particularly helpful when someone has stolen or clones your card without you knowing.”
